RCB’s Early Struggles and Recovery
Put in to bat, RCB had a shaky start. Mohammed Siraj led GT’s bowling attack with a fiery 3/19, dismantling RCB’s top order. Early blows saw Virat Kohli (7) and Devdutt Padikkal (0) dismissed cheaply, leaving RCB reeling at 42/4 after the powerplay.
A fighting 50-run stand between Jitesh Sharma (33 off 21) and Liam Livingstone (54 off 40) revived hopes. Livingstone later went berserk, smashing Rashid Khan for three sixes in the 18th over. Tim David’s late 32 off 18 balls helped RCB finish at a competitive 169/8 after 20 overs.
Jos Buttler’s Fireworks Lead the Chase
GT started cautiously before losing Shubman Gill (14) early. That’s when Buttler and Sudharsan took charge, putting on a 75-run stand that swung the momentum GT’s way. Buttler’s knock of 73* off 39 balls, laced with boundaries and sixes, stole the show.
Sudharsan (49 off 36) just missed out on a half-century, but his efforts ensured GT never felt pressure. With Sherfane Rutherford (30* off 18) providing the finishing touches, GT chased down the target in just 17.5 overs.
