MI vs KKR 2025: MI Thrash KKR by 8 Wickets in IPL 2025

Mumbai Indians Crush KKR by 8 Wickets in IPL 2025

MI vs KKR Highlights, IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians (MI) finally got off the mark in IPL 2025 with a commanding eight-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium. A stellar bowling display, led by debutant Ashwani Kumar’s four-wicket haul, restricted KKR to just 116. In response, Ryan Rickelton’s unbeaten 62 powered MI to victory in just 12.5 overs.

Ashwani Kumar Shines on IPL Debut

Winning the toss, MI skipper Hardik Pandya put KKR in to bat, and his bowlers delivered immediately. Trent Boult cleaned up Sunil Narine for a duck in the opening over, setting the tone for KKR’s collapse.

Deepak Chahar then removed Quinton de Kock early, piling on the pressure. KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane tried to anchor the innings but was dismissed on debutant Ashwani Kumar’s very first IPL delivery! The young pacer wasn’t done yet—he dismantled KKR’s middle order, finishing with impressive figures of 4/24.

KKR Crumble Under Pressure

After stumbling to 45/5 in just seven overs, KKR never recovered. Andre Russell, their last hope, was undone by Ashwani Kumar’s sheer pace. With wickets falling at regular intervals, KKR were bowled out for just 116 in 16.2 overs.

Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav Seal the Win

Chasing a modest target of 117, MI’s openers—Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma—made a confident start. Despite some early movement from KKR’s bowlers, the duo put up a steady 46-run partnership.

Russell managed to remove Rohit Sharma, but Rickelton took charge, smashing a fluent half-century. Will Jacks fell cheaply, but then came Suryakumar Yadav, who finished things in his trademark aggressive style.

Surya wasted no time, smashing 27 off just nine balls, including a stunning six over the keeper’s head to seal the victory. His explosive knock ensured MI wrapped up the chase at 121/2 in just 12.5 overs.
